19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents his initial title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

The win also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at 21 various tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching approach and regular reactions on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an better serving game.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He saved four early-game break points in a tight third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, he secured the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
